While on patrol earlier this month officer Jarred Koopman had an encounter with a man he saw dancing down the sidewalk.
Curious about what he was witnessing, Officer Koopman recorded the man dancing and said that he just loved the man’s positive attitude and wanted to share it with others. He decided to get out of his patrol car and talk to him and see why he was dancing. He then found our the man was actually walking to work.
The man told Officer Koopman that he has seven-year-old twins and had recently moved to Indiana. The reason he was walking to work was because he recently had been involved in a car accident and lost his car in the process.
He also mentioned that his job is working with kids who are autistic. Officer Koopman decided that he wanted to do something special to help him. He went on social media to raise money for him and ended up raising $2,240 for him!
He let everyone who donated know that the man really was in need and that he delivered the money to him and he was extremely grateful for the help.
The Fishers, Indiana Police Department, said they encourage officers to make a positive impact in the community and Officer Koopman did just that.
