An 8-year-old girl in England has learned to communicate with her deaf delivery driver using sign language.
Tallulah’s mother Amy Roberts, caught her daughter on video, signing ‘have a good day’ to delivery driver Tim Joseph in front of the family’s home in Ashton-under-Lyne, in Greater Manchester
Joseph then taught Tallulah to say ‘good morning, have a good day.’ She repeated his gestures, and the thrilled delivery driver smiled at Tallulah, flashing a thumbs up in response.
Tallulah and Joseph’s unlikely friendship began at the beginning of the UK’s lockdown when Tallulah drew a picture of a rainbow for the driver to thank him for his efforts amid the coronavirus pandemic.
The video of Tallulah and Joseph signing with one another has racked up over 50,000 likes since Roberts posted it.
Joseph told the BBC, “Tallulah realized I was deaf and then one day she surprised me when she signed to me, ’have a good day,’ I think she learnt sign language at school.”
“I was very happy, and I then showed Tallulah how to sign, ‘good morning, have a good day,’ and then she signed it perfectly and it made my day.”
