When Life Gives You Lemons: Boy Raises Over $1,300 For Injured Firefighter With Lemonade Stand

It’s summer, so that means there are lots of stories about lemonade stands. The latest? A five-year-old Missouri boy wanted to raise money for a local firefighter who was injured in a shooting, so he started a lemonade stand—and the industrious kiddo ended up raising over $1,300When Cooper Wallweber of St. Peters heard about firefighter Arlydia Bufford, he was heartbroken and wanted to do something help.

“She got shot really bad and was in the hospital,” Cooper said.

Initially, Cooper and his big sister Olivia were sell lemonade to get money for new shoes, but they opted instead to donate the money to Bufford’s family. They intended to sell lemonade for two hours, but the demand was so high that they ended up staying for six hours.

“It was like we were a drive-thru service,” Olivia said. “We had six officers come out, two ambulances, two fire trucks, another truck as we were leaving.” Olivia posted on Facebook that she plans on giving the money to Bufford’s mother in person.
