One of the best ways we can support health care workers during the novel coronavirus pandemic is by staying home. That said, Jeffrey Kaplow was determined to find a safe way to support his community.

After New York City restaurants closed in March, Jeffrey and Jennifer Asher, a friend of his, came up with a plan. A few days later, they delivered their first round of meals to a nearby hospital

Their project has since blossomed into an incredible cause called Heroes for Heroes. Volunteers carefully make and package fresh sandwiches at local Subway stores, and then Jeffrey personally delivers them to Mount Sinai hospitals via Uber and Lyft rides.

Since they started, they’ve made more than 2,500 deliveries to frontline workers. And they’re not stopping anytime soon!

The best part? All the food is free! Thanks to generous GoFundMe donations, Jeffrey and Jennifer have raised over $45,000 to give back!
