This weekend there are plenty of new things to binge watch since HBO has decided to unlock it’s biggest trove of free programming ever as a show of goodwill as we look for diversions and new things to watch during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The list includes every episode of some of their best HBO series, including classics like “The Sopranos” and “Veep” and newer series like the popular “Barry” and “Succession.”  This is perfect for binge watching this weekend!

This starts today and is for a limited time only though they don’t say how long.  The free service on HBO Now and HBO Go apps and online.

Here are my Top 5 picks for these HBO series.  Get out the popcorn, and get ready to watch some amazing TV!! – Terri

The Soprano’s  – 7 Seasons

Of all the HBO series this one is my all time favorite.  It’s hard to watch sometimes because it is so real.  The late James Gandolfini’s Emmy award performance as Tony Soprano is one the greatest of all time!

Six Feet Under – 5 Seasons

This one has already become a classic.  Sometimes breathtakingly sad and sometimes uproariously funny, this show written by Alan Ball , puts life and death in a unique perspective.  Once you start watching , it’s hard to stop!

Veep – 7 Seasons

The hilarious series about the first female Vice President made Julia Louis Dreyfus a star again , after her turn as Elaine in “Seinfeld.”  Her Emmy winning performance is unforgettable and proves what a gifted actress and comedian she is.  If you need a good laugh, this one will have you laughing until you can’t laugh anymore.

True Blood – 7 Seasons

The series follows Sookie Stackhouse, a barmaid living in Louisiana who can read people’s minds, and how her life is turned upside down when the Vampire Bill, walks into her place of employment two years after vampires ‘came out of the coffin’ on national television.  Sexy and well written, I like the first 5 Seasons the best.

Barry – 2 Seasons

Barry (the talented and funny Bill Hader of SNL fame) tries to quit his hitman career after realizing his love for acting. This show is funny and smart and Henry Winkler’s performance as Barry’s acting teacher almost makes you forget he was theh Fonz on “Happy Days.”  This Emmy winning show is still in productions and I can’t wait for Season 3! – Terri
