What’s Binge Worthy This Weekend?

What’s Binge Worthy This Weekend?

I’m ready for a weekend of catching up on Season 4 of one of my favorite series, “Outlander.”

The  Outlander series is a sequence of novels and shorter works written by Diana Gabaldon that feature elements of historical fiction, romance, mystery, adventure and science fiction/fantasy. It’s set in 2 time periods , right after WW11 and 200 years in the past in Scotland. The true essence is the love story between Claire a nurse from the 1940’s and Jamie Fraser a handsome rebel from the 1700’s who meet and fall in love when Claire time travels through a set of stones. Season’s 1 – 3 are available on Netflix and Season 4 on the Starz app.  Season 5 based on the book The Fiery Cross starts in 3 weeks on February 12th on Starz.

Caitriona Balfe plays Claire and Sam Heughan plays the handsome, red haired Jamie!  Tobias Menzies is also remarkable in a dual role in the series.  You can also catch him as Prince Philip in Season 3 of the Crown.

I’m going to be catching up on Season 4 again this weekend to get ready for more Claire and Jamie!

The Oscars are 2 weeks away and you can stream and watch some of the Best Picture nominees from the comfort of your own home.

“Marriage Story” is now showing on Netflix – I thought the performances were great and Laura Dern looks like the favorite to win Best Supporting Actress at the Oscars.

“The Irishman” – Netflix – Martin Scorsese is back with his cast of amazing actors, including Robert De Niro, Al Pacino, and Joe Pesci.  It is over 3 hours long, but the great thing about binge watching is you can start and stop the movie as many times as you like!

“The Two Popes” – Netflix – While not nominated for best picture, stars Anthony Hopkins and Johnathan Pryce have nominations for Best Actor and Supporting Actor.  I like this movie, but it moves a bit slow.

You can also stream “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood” and ” The Joker “ through Amazon Prime.

Cheryl Kaye recommends – “Long Shot” – is a 2019 American romantic comedy film directed by Jonathan Levine and written by Dan Sterling and Liz Hannah. The plot follows a journalist (Seth Rogen) who reunites with his former babysitter (Charlize Theron), now the United States Secretary of State.

Kurt Owens recommends – Messiah on Netflix.

Happy bingeing!  – Terri
