On Wednesday, President Trump defended his July phone call with Ukraine’s president, saying there was “no pressure” on him – even after a transcript of the call showed Trump urging his counterpart to open a probe related to Joe Biden.

During a photo-op at the United Nations with President Volodymyr Zelensky Mr. Trump said that he put “no pressure” on the Ukrainian leader to investigate Biden. Trump had earlier described their July conversation as containing nothing of significance. The President’s comments came after a document released by the White House showed that the president asked Zelensky to “look into” Biden and his son and said he would direct his personal lawyer and the attorney general to reach out to Zelensky to help him in a possible investigation in Ukraine of the Bidens.

The release of the call summary came a day after Speaker Nancy Pelosi said the House would move ahead with an impeachment inquiry.
