Following a surprising absence in ABC‘s spring lineup, Dancing With the Stars is officially returning for its 28th season this fall.

 

There is a tie for the youngest DWTS winner.

At 50 Jennifer Grey of Dirty Dancing Fame was the oldest celebrity to take home the Mirror Ball Trophy.

The base salary for a celebrity dancer to appear on the show is $125,000.

4 of the first 7 winners on the show were athletes.

Fact –  Both Shawn Johnson – Olympian and Bindi Irwin were 17 when they took home the mirror ball trophy in the Spring of 2009 and the Fall of 2015.

 

Fake – It was Donny Osmond who was just 2 weeks shy of his 52nd birthday who won in the Fall of 2009.

 

Fact –  The longer they are on the show, the more money they make.  The winner usually gets around $350,000.

 

Fact –  ex-NFL running back Emmitt Smith (Season 3); speed skater Apolo Anton Ohno (Season 4); British race car driver Helio Castroneves (Season 5); and figure skater Kristi Yamaguchi (Season 6)
