10 years ago today,  January 15, 2009, gave the world a hero named Captain Chesley B. Sullenberger III  saved the lives of 155 passengers on a damaged flight by successfully landing it on the Hudson River. A pilot with US Airways since 1980 Sully had just 208 seconds to make the decision to make his miraculous landing.

 

US Airways Flight 1549 was bound from New York to Raleigh North Carolina.

His first flight after the Miracle on the Hudson Flight was on September 11th, 2009.

His final flight was with his Flight 1549 co- pilot Jeff Skilles.

Sully’s luggage was found after Flight 1549 crashed into the Hudson.

Fake – It was headed to Charlotte NC.

Fact – It was a test flight from Charlotte to Atlanta. He returned briefly to flying in October of that year.

Fact – On March 3rd 2010. Several of the passengers from Flight 1549 were also with him that day.

Fact – It is not on display at Carolina’s Aviation Museum in Charlotte.
