Jay Roane & Family Fundraiser at Werner Park

  • Print

Jay Roane was a paratrooper in the Army and has been skydiving since 1988. He has completed over 1200 jumps and met his wife, Patti, through skydiving. On June 22, 2012, Jay and his friend decided to stop in St. Louis, Missouri, for a skydive, not knowing it would change his life forever. An unforseen change in winds caused his canopy to lose lift and Jay fell 30 feet to the concrete. He sustained multiple fractures in his legs and back, along with a spinal cord injury. Jay spent time in the ICU in St. Louis before he was able to be airlifted to Lincoln, NE, two weeks later. Jay resides at the Madonna Rehabilitation Hospital in Lincoln, facing numerous surgeries and countless hours of rehab. Jay will be unable to return to work as a home health nurse for at least a year, and Patti has been unable to work because she's spent all her time caring for Jay. The bills are piling up and Jay and Patti need your help!

Members of their parish, St. Charles Borromeo Church, co-workers, friends and family are putting together a fundraiser to help out Jay and Patti. They've spent their life giving back to the community, and now the community wants to return the favor.
