Graduation advice
By glo @ 3:20 PM :: 245 Views :: 1 Comments :: :: Glo's Arts & Entertainment Blog

I had some requests for  a small poem I read on the air that I thought might serve as inspiration to those graduating this spring so here it is...

The Paradoxical Commandments
by Dr. Kent M. Keith

People are illogical, unreasonable, and self-centered.
Love them anyway.

If you do good, people will accuse you of selfish ulterior motives.
Do good anyway.

If you are successful, you will win false friends and true enemies.
Succeed anyway.

The good you do today will be forgotten tomorrow.
Do good anyway.

Honesty and frankness make you vulnerable.
Be honest and frank anyway.

The biggest men and women with the biggest ideas can be shot down by the smallest men and women with the smallest minds.
Think big anyway.

People favor underdogs but follow only top dogs.
Fight for a few underdogs anyway.

What you spend years building may be destroyed overnight.
Build anyway.

People really need help but may attack you if you do help them.
Help people anyway.

Give the world the best you have and you'll get kicked in the teeth.
Give the world the best you have anyway.

More Fine Arts Events
By glo @ 3:24 PM :: 268 Views :: 1 Comments :: :: Glo's Arts & Entertainment Blog
I know it won't be possible for me to keep up with everything going on in the metro so I'm really counting on everyone to contribute their event to this blog. I'm hoping to get TAG on board so that we can all have a chance to see these shows!! Here is one I want to recommend.. Shelterbelt Theatre presents Friends Like These directed by Michelle Philips beginning on 4/19/2007 and running through 5/12/2007. A new play by Shelterbelt co-founder L. Scott Blankenship, Friends Like These is a powerful and amusing look at love, honesty and friendship. In a struggle with success, two friends' fortunes switch with serious consequences. Performances run Thursdays-Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 6 p.m. Tickets are $15/general admission, $12/students, seniors & TAG members, and groups of 10 or more. Reservations may be made by calling the box office at (402) 341-2757 or online at www.shelterbelt.org.
